Built for policymakers.
FORE's Bottom drawer is built for public servants, staffers, and MPs who need credible ideas fast. We work with academics, grassroots campaigns, and NGOs to catalogue their policy asks into a centralised resource of one-page policy briefs.
That way, you can spend less time searching and more time solving.
There’s a saying in the public service: you should always have something ready in your bottom drawer.
So, we fill it for you with one-page briefs. Ready when you are.
When should I use FORE's Bottom Drawer?
Briefs. Cabinet Submissions. Speeches and more!
FORE’s Bottom Drawer is for when you want to quickly scan what the sector is advocating for (using our jurisdiction filters and topic tags). It’s for when you’re preparing a brief and need reliable language for your background context. It’s for when you’re preparing a Cabinet submission and want to show how much support an idea already has - with our Public Support List (web page) and Support Snapshot (PDF download - circle in the top right corner).
When you want to:
-
✅ Quickly scan what your sector is advocating for (using our jurisdiction filters and topic tags)
-
✅ Quickly assess the level of expert and organisational support an idea already has (with our Public Support List (web page) and Support Snapshot (PDF download - circle in the top right corner)
-
✅ Find reliable language and expert quotes for your background context when preparing a brief
-
✅ Spot new, evidence-backed ideas you may not have seen (the ones hidden in long reports).
-
✅ Track emerging ideas and trends across portfolios (to stay across what’s gaining traction)
What do we do?
*In the simplest terms
IDENTIFY an expert- proposed solution
Drawn from academia, frontline advocacy, or community-led initiatives. We look for ideas that are evidence-based, actionable, and non-partisan.
DRAFT a one-page policy brief
Using our consistent Problem → Context → Advice → Precedent format. This makes it easy to scan, compare, and act on without wading through lengthy reports.
PUBLISH in our online Bottom Drawer
Where policymakers, staffers, and advocates can search by topic or jurisdiction, check how much support it has, and access the full brief with references and context.

TRACK support (Support Snapshot)
Each brief includes a Support Snapshot, showing which experts & organisations have already endorsed the idea. This works like an open letter groups can sign on to.
No one can be ready for every policy window.
So we built a
'collective bottom drawer'.
