At the FOREfront of change

Non-partisan | Social Enterprise | Founded in 2024

Too often, expert-led, evidence-based ideas fail to reach decision-makers at the right moment - leaving crucial reforms stalled or overlooked. We're here to change that.

Why Do We Exist?

Policy shapes everything, yet too often, expert-led, evidence-based ideas fail to reach decision-makers at the right moment - leaving crucial reforms stalled or overlooked.

What do we do?

At FORE Australia, we don’t just talk about policy, we build tools to help shape it.

We build tools to make policy solutions easier to find, weigh and act on.

Who Are We?

We’re a national volunteer team with experience across government, advocacy, politics, the public service, and academia, working together to strengthen Australia’s policy future.

FORE Australia Overview

Too often, expert-led, evidence-based solutions don’t reach decision-makers at the right time or in the right format—stalling progress and missing critical moments for reform.

We collaborate with experts, advocates, and policymakers to build and maintain tools that Australia’s policy community can trust and turn to time and time again. Working across sectors and party lines, we create resources like the Policy Library of One-Page Briefs and training programs that make evidence-based ideas easier to find, weigh, and act on.

FORE Australia was founded by Lucy Skelton in 2024.

Overview:

"Better policy starts with better access to great ideas."

- Lucy Skelton (Founder)

Our Impact (so far!):

  • Launched in Federal Parliament, with attendance from MPs and staffers across the political spectrum.

  • 300+ policy briefs in development as of February 2025, expanding our Solutions Library.

  • 250+ interns trained since mid-2024, gaining hands-on experience in policy research and analysis.

How is FORE Australia funded?

FORE Australia operates entirely on a volunteer basis, with no current external funding. Our work is made possible by the dedication of our team, who contribute their time and expertise.

While we run on a small budget, our impact continues to grow. We are actively seeking funding to expand our capacity, support our team, and ensure that more well-researched policy solutions reach the right decision-makers. If you’re interested in supporting our work, we’d love to hear from you (info@foreaustralia.com).

FORE Australia would like to acknowledge Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the Traditional Custodians of the land we live, learn, and work on.

We value their cultures, identities, and continuing connection to country, waters, kin, and community. We pay our respects to Elders, both past and present, and are committed to supporting the next generation of young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander leaders. This always was and always will be Aboriginal land.

As an organisation dedicated to amplifying solutions, we recognise that First Nations peoples have long identified many of the pathways for environmental protection and meeting community needs. Our role is to listen, support, and amplify these voices.
